Driving the Nordschleife with the M5 BMW M Ring-Taxi

Thanks to the Internet I sometimes feel like I have been to so many Places as I see so many Pictures and Videos that I really start to think that I already went there in Person. Last weekend I had such a Déjà vu when I went to the Nurburgring as I was able to join the Warm-Up Lap of the BMW Ring-Taxi around the Nordschleife. Seriously, who doesn't know the most famous gas station at Döttinger Höhe with their Webcam or Pictures of the thousands of Cars waiting to do a Lap on the Nordschleife?!

Outside the little House where you can book your Taxi-Drives around the Nordschleife there was already a - on the first look - inconspicuous Car waiting: a white BMW 5-Series. Wait, this is the Car? Okay, it was a M5 F10 with 560 hp and a maximum torque of 680 Newton meters 1500-5750 rpm. Well, these numbers are impressive .. but it's still a "family Car"?!

As part of the official programme during the Oldtimer Grand Prix at the Nurburgring this past Weekend BMW Classic sheduled each one Interview Session on Saturday and Sunday for Fans with their Racedrivers and other BMW Personalities. If you're able to understand German I totally recommend you to watch the whole Video, otherwise I recommend you to start watching at Minute 09:21 as Johnny Cecotto is anyway speaking in english.

Again at the BMW Box during the Oldtimer Grand Prix 2013

Hey Guys

And on Sunday I went again to the BMW Box to see, hear and feel the engines warming up and the drivers getting ready to start driving.

But this time I haven't just been walking from the BMW Paddock to Box Number 21, no, this Time I was really working ;)
As the Team is really nice and a helping hand is always required I was able to push a Car by hand, with others, to the Box. The Car was no other than the Brabham BMW BT52 Turbo from 1983. Within nine months the Mechanics Team restored the Car in which Nelson Piquet won the Formula 1 Championship in 1983. I don't think that such an possibility comes twice so I definitely had to do this! The 30th anniversary of this Triumph will be on October 15th. More Details on the Brabham BMW will follow in October, right in time before the Anniversary!

Inside the BMW Box at Nurburgring Oldtimer Grand Prix (Video)

Have you ever wondered whats going on inside a Box right before a Race starts?
Yesterday I had the chance to visit the BMW Box at the Nurburgring during the 41. AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix before their Demo Run and before the BMW Race.

Among the Drivers there are Marc Surer, Adrian van Hooydonk, Joachim Winkelhock, Harald Grohs and more. I totally recommend you to check out the Post that will go live in 3 hours with more than 50 Pictures from during my stay at and inside the Box!!

Opel at the 2013 Nurburgring Oldtimer Grand Prix

For sure there are also other Manufacturers at the Oldtimer Grand Prix, besides BMW, for example Opel!

At this years Oldtimer Grand Prix Opel celebrates their 110th Motorsports Year and sure they celebrate it big with lots of exhibited Cars! For example you can see a Rally Cup Opel ADAM, an Opel Rekord C, the vintage "Opel Rennwagen" from 1903 or Classics like the Opel GT.

Oldtimer Grand Prix 2013: Isdera Autobahnkurier 116i, Isdera Spyder 036i, Isdera Imperator 108i

Hey Guys

"Whoooaa!" was when I spotted these three Isdera nex to the Nurburgring Race Track during the morning. I can't exactly remember the last time I've seen an Isdera but all I know is that it's already been some time since the last time!

Isdera is a South German Automobile Manufacturer based in Hildesheim, since 2005. Isdera stands for Ingenieuroffice for Styling, Design and Racing.

Let's begin with the Isdera Spyder 036i: This Roadster was built up from 1983 and first featured a Volkswagen Golf GTI engine with 136 hp. Up from the mid 1990's it was replaced by a 3,6 litre machine by AMG with 265 hp to allow the Spyder an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 60 mph) in jusst 6,2 seconds with a top speed at 260 km/h.

Later the Isdera Imperator 108i was introduced: Built from 1984 to 2001 the something futuristic Car replaced the CW 311 model and in they produced just 30 models in total! With it's V8 engine by AMG it's Top Speed is up to 310 mph, also thanks to a weight of just 1250 kg.

You won't belive it, but the one and only Isdera Autobahnkurier 116i was built in 2006! It once celebrated it's World Debut at the AvD Concours d’Elegance in Schwetzingen, Germany. The very special thing about the Autobahnkurier? It is powered by TWO Mercedes-Benz V8 engines (one for the front axle, one for the rear axle. What a Masrerpiece!
